Registrar eNom Launches Web Hosting Push
10th November, 2003
eNom has become the latest domain registrar to launch a major push into the shared hosting business, following in the footsteps of registrar competitors including GoDaddy and DirectNIC. Bellevue, Wash.-based eNom is the fifth-largest domain registrar, having registered more than 2.4 million domains.
The move into hosting is getting a mixed reaction from some of eNom's reseller customers who run hosting companies, who are wary of their customers receiving pitches for eNom's hosting services every time they register or transfer domain names. eNom, which is based in Bellevue, Wash., says it has 22,548 resellers, of whom 7,521 are described as "active resellers" who have sold products within the past three months.
eNom's shared hosting plans are priced at $9.75 a month, and include a competitive feature set including 250 megabytes of web space, 20 gigabytes of monthly bandwidth and up to 100 email boxes.
