Tiscali Most Reliable Hoster in November

Ranking by Failed Requests and Connection time,
November 1st - 30th 2006

Tiscali is the most reliable hosting company for November 2006, followed closely by Datapipe, Rackspace, New York Internet and Webfusion.

Tiscali, a European provider of hosting and Internet access services, is having a strong year, as this is the third time it has led the survey in 2006. Tiscali is based in Cagliari, Italy, with operations in the UK, Germany, The Netherlands and Czech Republic. The company offers shared hosting, dedicated servers, colocation and domain names in addition to a wide range of telecom services.

Four of the 10 most most reliable hosts run their web sites on Linux, while three use FreeBSD and three are powered by Windows.

Netcraft measures and makes available the response times of fifty leading hosting providers' sites. The performance measurements are made at fifteen minute intervals from separate points around the internet, and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.

From a customers’ point of view, the percentage of failed requests is more pertinent than outages on the hosting companies’ own sites, as this gives a pointer to reliability of routing, and this is why we choose to rank our table by fewest failed requests, rather than shortest periods of outage.

Fuller information on the measurement process and current measurements are available.
