Datapipe retained the top spot in September, successfully responding to all but three requests. Datapipe has been in the top ten for eight of the last nine months and has a 100% uptime record over the last ten years. In August, Datapipe announced its acquisition of UK managed cloud services provider Adapt, a move intended to further strengthen its European presence.
Memset took second place with four failed requests. Memset was the UK’s first accredited carbon-neutral web host. In July, Memset won the Best Dedicated Hosting Award at the ISPA Awards for the second year running. The judges were impressed by Memset’s response times, technical support, carbon neutrality, and by Memset having adopted IPv6 as standard.
In third place with five failed requests is Krystal, a UK-based hosting provider boasting 100% SSD hosting.
Netcraft measures and makes available the response times of around forty leading hosting providers’ sites. The performance measurements are made at fifteen minute intervals from separate points around the internet, and averages are calculated over the immediately preceding 24 hour period.
From a customer’s point of view, the percentage of failed requests is more pertinent than outages on hosting companies’ own sites, as this gives a pointer to reliability of routing, and this is why we choose to rank our table by fewest failed requests, rather than shortest periods of outage. In the event the number of failed requests are equal then sites are ranked by average connection times.
Information on the measurement process and current measurements is available.
